Global Missions

Nazarene Missions International

The Church of the Nazarene around the world, including here in the Sherman area, has one mission: To make Christlike disciples in the nations.  In 156 world areas, this statement of mission is embraced among the 1.8 million members of our denomination. The mission is built on the Church of the Nazarene’s core values of being Christian, holiness, and missional.

Sherman Church of the Nazarene is involved in several ways as a part of this mission.  We pray for the missionaries and people of all the world regions, including USA & Canada.  We give generously to missions through Faith Promise, Compassionate Ministries, World Mission Radio, Alabaster, Child Sponsorship, Disaster Relief, and other special offerings.  We send Work & Witness Teams at home and abroad to minister to special needs of the people.

We were recently quite involved in giving Crisis Care Kits and money to help the earthquake-ravaged people of Haiti.  We took a team to Lone Grove Oklahoma to help the people of that community clean up after the devastating tornado. We have sent teams to Oklahoma City to work in the inner city and to Mexico to minister in various ways.

Locally, we help provide food, clothing, transportation, and shelter for needy people in our community, while endeavoring to introduce them to Jesus Christ. We are limited in resources, but help as many as we can.

Again, whether across the street, or around the world, our goal is to make Christlike disciples.

Nazarene Child Sponsorship

JESUS Film ministry teams recently reported that the 10 millionth person has accepted Christ as personal savior through JESUS Film ministry, which launched in 1997. Although it’s not possible to know which one of the hundreds of new believers to join the family of God this month is the 10 millionth person, each life is equally worthy of celebration.
